Picturing the Homoerotic

Thursday, February 7 at 7 p.m.

Pre-registration encouraged

Art/photography critic and cultural journalist Allen Ellenzweig discusses how same-sex attraction has been pictured throughout the history of photography. Taking off from his landmark study, The Homoerotic Photograph: Male Images from Durieu/Delacroix to Mapplethorpe, recently reissued in paperback by Columbia University Press, Ellenzweig demonstrates that the homoerotic photograph is not a style but rather testimony of a human event: an emotional exchange between men in a photograph.

Online registration for this program is now closed. Volunteers will be selling tickets at the door of the auditorium at 6:30 p.m., one half hour before the program begins.
